Educational Resources

The TEF website is designed to help the general public find appropriate, high quality, and trustworthy toxicology-related information.  To do this, we provide access to information produced by a wide variety of sources.  This information may also serve toxicology professionals seeking materials suitable for use in public education and outreach activities.  Professionals with expertise in areas other than toxicology (e.g. journalists, health care providers, and others) may also find the site useful.

  • More about these topics

TEF’s intent in developing these short topics is to help viewers quickly locate reliable information about toxicology-related subjects.   TEF recognizes that the worldwide web offers a lot of other readily accessible information about important toxicology issues.   Only some of this information is factual, scientifically sound, and presented clearly for our general public audience.   In TEF’s material posted here viewers will note that key definitions, principles and concepts are explained first in brief introductions that are followed by references to carefully selected links with more information about the topic.   These topics are not intended to be exhaustive reviews, but rather the best relevant web materials available at the time the topic is being developed.

Guidelines were developed for linking to other web sites in a variety of formats, including written documentation, databases, and videos.   Criteria include both accuracy and quality of presentation.   The vast majority are educational, non-commercial websites.   If a commercial site is recommended then the following conditions must be met:  (1) Site makes an obvious distinction between material created for advertising and material created for information. (2) Content must be available at no charge.  (3) The site’s content or presentation should not cause a reasonable user to conclude that products or services are endorsed.

Disclaimer
TEF is not able to monitor and continually re-evaluate all websites that change their content on an ongoing basis.   A website's content is evaluated carefully before recommending that link; however,   reference to those websites should not be interpreted as TEF's universal endorsement of all details, advice, and opinions appearing on those websites forever because content may change after TEF review. These resources are not intended to be exhaustive reviews.  Omission of a website that appears to be related may be intentional  because it did not meet selection criteria.  A resource might not be listed because TEF tries avoid excessive redundancy in the website content selected. Links to websites outside of toxedfoundation.org do not constitute TEF endorsement of any product or service.
